We’re doing our speech about Anne Geddes, the most famous baby photographer of the World.
Anne Geddes had always loved looking at photographs, but when she was still at school, there were no photography lessons. And Anne had never think of it to became a photographer by herself. But she gave photograph a try. She had seen the way children and babies were being photographed. It just didn’t seem realistic to Anne that people took their children along to photographic studios all dressed in their Sunday best, and came home with images of babies lying on their rugs. That photographs didn’t show the unique personality of the children. Anne brought a change in it.
Anne Geddes photographed from her heart. She adore little babies. Her images are very positive and simple, and from the heart, she said. She also said that little babies speak a universal language.
The babies are the inspiration of Anne, and she can’t imagine her life without them. She had a deep love an respect for children. Sadly babies doesn’t like photographers, but Anne Geddes doesn’t find them difficult to photograph at all. She thinks you have to keep an open mind and a sense of humour.
Anne create always a peaceful and comfortable environment (=omgeving) for the babies and their parents. The parents stay with the photo shoots. When you ever see sleeping babies in her images, they are new-borns (up to four weeks of age). Babies who are this young age sleep a lot, and a change environment doesn’t bother at all. If they sleep, they usually sleep for long periods of time.
Anne’s perfect image is where she have a perfect environment, and the baby has given something of his personality. For example a baby that’s crying, or suck one’s thumb (=duimen). The babies are always the most important thing of the image.
When people send Anne photographs of their children, she could select them for her photo sessions. But Anne have also her own model file with hundreds of babies. She sometimes travel to the United States, to create images that include African American babies. Because there is a very small community of people with an African nationality in New Zealand.
