Detective Kevin was putting the dishes into the dishwasher together with his wife when he received a call. He picked up his mobile phone.
“Hello, detective Kevin Dewulf.”
“Aargh… Come to… the church… Aargh… near the graveyard… Aargh…!”
The connection broke up. His wife looked at him. She had heard everything. She was pregnant of their first child. He decided to go and to take a look.
“Honey, please! Stay at home. It’s too dangerous!”
He looked into her grey eyes. He loved her very much.
“I’m sorry darling. But I have to go, I’ll be right back!”
He kissed her goodbye and beat the door behind him. He drove his car to the graveyard, it wasn’t very far.
“What a strange place to meet a person that you don’t know…”
He got out of his car and don’t saw the big church tower very good. A thick dense fog hung all around the church. He knocked on the gate in the hope that somebody came out. Nobody came out, even the priest wasn’t there. Then he heard a deafening scream. He entered a side door that was open en he saw that one of the windows wasn’t closed anymore. In the corner he saw a body of somebody hanging on a rope. He came closer and recognized the body, although it was very difficult. It was stephany, an old girlfriend of Kevin.
“Oh my God, what’s this?”
He looked around and then he found a letter on a little table. He opened it.

Dear Kevin,
Your time will also come, your wife’s too and your unborn child. If I were you, I should watch out! Don’t alert the police or it would hurt you even more.

He looked at the letter, it wasn’t handwritten but it was typed. Then he heard a crack behind him, he turned and saw a shade disappearing. He was scared and decided to go home. At home, he told his wife the whole story. Together they made a list of suspects.

Kevin wanted to go back the day after and if he wasn’t back in one hour, his wife would alert the police. They went sleeping and early in the morning, he went again to the church. While he was inside, someone else entered the room too. He heard it. He or she walked slowly to him. He turned and looked right into the face of the murderer.
“Welcome…”
“Why?? My wife is pregnant and we’re so happy together and then… She hasn’t forgotten what you did to her when she was younger. And why did you kill Stephany? I have nothing with her! It’s all past. She had been my girlfriend before I met my wife. I haven’t seen her anymore until now…”
“I’ve killed her for two reasons. She did me a great favour, she was my lure. I know for sure that you would come if something happened… and I must say, you’re a good detective. The other reason is that she was going to divorce.
“You and Stephany?”
“Yes, and now I hove to kill you. Don’t make it more difficult than it already is.”
“You’re crazy, totally obsessed!”
“Maybe, who cares?”
He took his knife and at that moment someone else shot him.
“Honey!”
His wife fell into his arms.
“Thank you so much, you have saved my life!”
“It’s Nick, I knew it! At the moment when he assaulted me, he tried to rape me. He said also “I’ll get you later, bitch!” But what about Stephany?”
“Well… he married her. Let’s call the police.”
“Good idea.”
They called the police and after telling the whole story, they were able to go home.
Later, they heard that Nick was in jail lifelong! Kevin, his wife and child lived luckily.
