Richard Curtis – Four weddings and a funeral (stage 5)
1. I think the writer gave the title to the book because in this book were four wedding and a funeral going on, but the writer didn’t invent the title because there is also a movie about the book.
2. The most important people in this book are;
Charles:(sometimes his friends called him Charlie) An very attractive unmarried man who had lot of different girlfriends in his live, but he doesn’t get really in love until he meets Carrie.
Carrie: A beautiful young American woman who has worked in the fashion.
3. Summary
There was a wedding Angus and Laura got married.
There was a big party, at the end of the party everybody was going to sleep in a castle but Carry wasn’t Charles and George didn’t sleep there either.
In the evening they have drink in the pub and Carry went to her room Charles joined her, they kissed and made love they kissed already at the wedding party.
Carry goes back to America.
The second wedding Bernard and Lydia got married, Gerald is the priest they met him at the first wedding he was still studying at the first wedding.
Charles was late again; at the reception Charles met his ex-girlfriends who were all mad at him.
Charles met Carrie again who introduced Hamish her already-husband when Hamish went away to Scotland Carrie and he spend the night together again.
There was no wedding that weekend it’s a free Saturday.
Charles received an invitation for wedding of Garry and Hamish in the invitation was written about a store were you could buy presents.
The prizes are all over £ 1000, - when Charles walks out of the store Carrie walks in and they had a drink together they talked about how many they slept with and Charles had to choose the wedding dress.
The third wedding is in Scotland from Carrie and Hamish at this wedding met Scarlet (the roommate of Charles) Chester.
During the speech Gareth felt on the floor and died.
Fiona declares her love for Charles but Charles isn’t in love with her.
This Saturday is different because there is a funeral, Gareth’s funeral.
At the funeral Matthew, Gareth’s best friend reads a poem it’s about their friendship that is so good that they are almost married
The fourth wedding is from Charles and Henrietta.
Carry is there too but it was a bad idea to invite her because when Charles sees her he begun to doubt.
Charles told everything to his brother whit signing language because he is deaf, when the priest asks if anybody think that Charles and Henrietta not should get married, David is knocking on the wooden church seat because he can’t speak he is signing that he suspects the groom is having doubts and that the groom really loves an another person too.
Henrietta asks if this is true yes says Charles and she knock him down while she’s mad and crying.
Later that afternoon in Charles kitchen everybody is still shocked and talking about wedding and Tom says all weddings are the same but this one isn’t, we won’t forget him.
While it’s raining and thundering the doorbell rings and Charles opens it, it is Carrie who comes to say sorry for coming to the wedding.
Carrie and Charles kissed in the rain and Charles asks if she agrees not married him ever.
I do she says.
4. I like this book as well because there are a lot of funny moments in it, for example the priest said at the second wedding to Bernard “Do you take Lydia Hibbott to be my awful wife instead of my lawful wife.
And more of some funny things.
