2) Summary:
The cronicles of Narnia: The lion, the witch and the wardrobe is about 2 brothers and 2 sisters called, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie. While the World War 2 was in full glory they were send to a professor. When the children play with each other, Lucy discovered a wardrobe to the country Narnia. Lucy meets there for the first time mister Tumnes, he’s a faun. Lucy go with mister Tumnis to his house, She fell asleep. She has to hurry up to go back. When she was back she told the others about Narnia, that she was a long time there, but there are just a few minutes over!
In the night Lucy goes back to Narnia, Edmund follows her. Edmund met the White witch, the mean character in the book. He is fall in love with her. He tell her he’s is of a family of four children, and she wants Edmund to take the others with him to Narnia.
While the children play a game they’re all in the wardrobe, the adventure begins!
The story is about an old legend that conclude that 4 children help Narnia to be not longer include the white witch (called Jadis). With the help of Aslan (the lion) they saved Narnia and they were the kings and queens of Narnia. But then, they’re back in the ordinary world.
3) Individually: an initial personal reaction
A) I really like the film, so I decided to read the book. And it was a good choice!
B) Woow, this book is amazing. It includes so much surprising effect so you can concentrate all the time. It’s nice to read that some thing are not in the movie, but they are in the book. I love this book.
B. Going deeper
1) Explain the principal idea or theme
The theme is fantasy, that very clear. The most things in the book are not realistic and you know they can never happen in real life. I don’t know someone who is half-sheep and half-human. Even I know a beaver or lion who can talk. The idea is, I think, the war between good and bad.
7) think of another title for the book.
A new title for the book is: the Chronicles of Narnia: four children and the bad. I like the original title more, but this one is too about the story, because four children try to save Narnia of the bad, the white witch.
!0) Write two letters
Dear mom,
You never know what happens to us the last period. You send us to the professor, but we don’t spent a lot time with him. Lucy has discovered Narnia, a land in the wardrobe. I know this sounds very unbelievable but it is true. There was a white witch and she was the reason why it was in Narnia hundred years winter. We have saved Narnia and I was king Peter! You hear the rest when I see you again. Is everything aright with you?
Much love, Peter
Dear Peter,
I’m glad to hear something from you, but there are just 4 days left, you’re story sounds very unbelievable and I would believe you but I can’t. Please honey, accept that.. I hope you didn’t become strange. Please take good care of Susan, Edmund and Lucy, they need you. With me is everything alright, don’t worry.
Much love,
Mom
9) Write part of the personal diary of journal of one or more characters
Dear Diary,
What happened the last time is really awesome. Yes, I know, it sounds weird, I and my siblings have saved a world far away of the bad white witch. And I was the king! But now I’m back and when I look back, I see a time I can’t forget, only as my brain doesn’t work right anymore. Dear diary, I know you will believe me, but most people don’t. Of course my brother and sisters do and the professor, but even my mom don’t! It’s the first time she don’t believe me. But Narnia, woow, it was a awesome place, and they don’t forget me.
Much love,
Peter
C. Evaluation
1) copy three passages from the book that most appeal to you. And explain why.
‘’ ‘Good evening’, said Lucy. But the Faun was so busy to picking up it’s parcels that at first id did not reply. When it had finished it made her a little bow. ‘Good evening, good evening’, said the faun. ‘excuse me – I don’t know want to be inquisitive – but should I be right in thinking that you are a daughter of eve?’
‘My name is Lucy’, said she, not quite understanding him.
‘But you are – forgive me- you are what they call a girl?’ asked the faun.
‘Of course I’m a girl’ said Lucy.
I really like this passage because it makes clear how surprised the faun is to see a human girl. And I really like the reaction of Lucy. She don’t know what the faun mean and just say something, but It’s not what the faun means.
‘What’s it like?’ said Lucy.
‘It’s like- it’s a kind of animal’ said Susan, and then. ‘Look, Look! Quick! There it is.’
They all saw it this time, a whiskered furry face which had looked out at them from behind a tree and pine needles could be seen underfoot because no snow had been able to fall there, did it begin to talk to them.
‘Are you the Sons of Adam and the daughters of Eve’ it said..
‘We’re some of them’, said Peter.
‘Ssssh’, said the beaver, ‘not so loud please. We’re not safe even here’.
‘Why, who are you afraid of? ’said Peter. ‘There’s no one here but ourselves.
‘There are the treees’, said the beaver. ‘They’re always listening. Most of them are on our side, but there are trees that would betray us to her; you know who I mean,’ and it nodded its head several times.
I really like this passage because it’s so rich of fantasy. Beavers who can talk, trees who can hear, It’s not like a normal nature world. And the reaction of the children is nice, because they don’t expected that the beaver is gonna talk.
While the two girls still crouched in the bushes with their hands over their faces, they heard the voice of the witch calling out,
‘Now! Follow me all and we will set about what remains of this war! It will not take us long to crush the human vermin and the traitors now that the great Fool, the great cat, lies dead’.
I really like this passage, because the children were so sad and the white witch is so happy, she is thinking that she survived, but Aslan is not going to die.
3) finish three sentences to express how the book has influenced you:
I wish that I was in Narnia with the kids, not to fight but to see the nice world of Narnia and see all the strange beings.
I believe that good always fight with the bad, but the good ones are stronger.
I hope that there is a beautiful world like Narnia. Somewhere else I have never been.
4) If you could give the author a prize for this book, what would you give it for?
I would give him a prize for his big fantasy, but he told it so believable. The story isn’t very realistic (that’s a fact) but how the author tells it, it sounds like it is true. So that why I would give him this prize.
6) what does this book mean for you?
This book mean a lot to me, because it’s the book of the film and I love the film (it’s my favourite movie) the book is really fantastic and I have enjoyed reading it.
12) write your final conclusions of this book.
I really like this book, because you can escape for a short time from the real world. Narnia is a wonderful place, but even there is a war. The book is easy to read and the personages are most of the time nice. I can recommend this book to everybody!
