The Sound Machine (in: Someone like you)

Summary:
The story is about a guy named Klaussner. He is working on a box in his shed while Scott passes. Scott is the doctor who’s coming to look at his sore throat. He sees what Klaussner is doing and gets curious. Scott asks what he is doing, but Klaussner only tells him that it has something to do with sound. Because the doctor is inquisitive Klaussner told him it’s a machine designed to pitch up sound vibrations that are high-pitched for reception by the human ear. The doctor wished him good luck and leaves. Klaussner takes his box to the garden and turns his machine on. Suddenly he hears a throat less, inhuman shriek. Sharp en short, very clear and cold. He heard the scream at the moment that the lady next door sniped a rose. That lady is Mrs. Saunders. He asks her to cut one again. She thinks he’s going completely crazy but snips another rose. Klaussner hears the frightful, throat less shriek again. He tells her that she has snipped the stems of living things, and that they screamed in the most terrible way. Now he takes his own daisy’s in his garden and keeps on snipping them. He listens every time again to be sure of it’s a cry, expressing pain or not. He decides that it’s a stony cry, expressing nothing. He takes the box and went to the park were he placed it on the ground to the trunk of a three. Than he takes an axe and swung as hard as he could at the base of the three trunk. The axe cut deep into the wood and stuck there. Than he heard a most extraordinary noise, a hard note less, enormous screaming sound. Then he gently took the axe out of the three trunk. He tried to push the gash together, to close the wound. The noise had made him feel sick with horror, so he called doctor Scott. The doctor came and Klaussner said that he needed to hear the noise. The doctor put in the earphones and Klaussner swung after some time the axe at the three. He felt a movement of the ground. At that moment there was the cracking sound of wood splintering and a swishing sound of leaves brushing against other. Afterwards Klaussner told the doctor to heal the cut with iodine. After that Klaussner smiled, took the doctor by his arm and take him back to the house.

Evaluation:
I found it a really weird story, but interesting. He used a lot of complicated words but made the story audible. It’s a rather special story with a beautiful content. When you close your eyes you can see the story play like it’s for real.
