This is a story about Oliver: Oliver is a young orphan child and lives in the nineteenths.

Oliver was born in a house were the poor lives. When Oliver's mother died, they took Oliver to an orphanage where Oliver spends the first nine years of his life. They give him his name "Oliver Twist". But then, when Oliver is nine years old, a man comes who takes Oliver to a workhouse, because Oliver is too old for an orphanage. There, Oliver's life is terrible. When Oliver asks for more soup they don't agree and they send Oliver to Mr. Sowerberry, a coffin maker. Oliver is leading here a terrible life too. They must work very hard and Oliver runs away, because Oliver doesn't want to stay there any longer. Oliver roamed the street, until he has reached London. In London he met Dodger, a boy of his age. This boy is very nice to him and takes him to Fagin, an old man where more boys of his age come for work. But Fagin teaches the boys to steal. Oliver meets a lot of people learn especially criminals. Bill Sikes, a bad young man, comes to Fagin as well, together with his girlfriend Nancy. Oliver likes Nancy. On a day when Oliver is on the street with Dodger and Charlie, Oliver sees how the two boys are stealing from a rich man standing next to a stall. The two boys run away, but Oliver stands still. Everybody was looking at him, thinking he had done it, the police picked up Oliver. But the owner from the stall went to the police and told that Oliver has done nothing. Oliver is very happy when Mr. Brownlow, a nice old man, takes Oliver to his house and takes care of Oliver. Oliver loves Mr. Brownlow and Mr. Brownlow trusts Oliver. But, when Mr. Brownlow sends Oliver to the bookshop, he is kidnapped by Nancy, and brought back to Fagin. Oliver is not happy and he is even more unhappy when Oliver and Bill Sykes have to break into a big house. Bill takes Oliver back to Fagin. Meanwhile, Nancy learns a lot about Oliver's history. At the risk of her own life, she eavesdrops a conversation and goes to Rose Marlie and Mr. Brownlow to tell them about the history of Oliver. Monks, a bad man, comes to Fagin. Nancy listens and she hears that Monks wants Fagin to teach Oliver to become a thief. So Nancy tells Rose Marlie and Mr. Brownlow that Oliver is at Fagin's. But, when Nancy and Mr. Brownlow are meeting, Dodger eavesdrops the meeting and tells it to Fagin and Fagin tells Bill Sykes. Mr. Brownlow is looking for Monks, after he met Nancy, and he can't believe it. Bill is worried about it because of Fagin so he kills Nancy. Bill runs away for the police and goes up on a roof, with Oliver, but falls down and he died. The police have picked up Fagin with his thieves. Before Monks died, he came to Mr. Brownlow and left something, a beautiful painting of a young lady. When his father died, the girl went away. She went to a workhouse, were she died. Mr. Brownlow didn't know that. Oliver came into his house and Mr. Brownlow saw the likeness between the painting of the young lady and the boy, so Mr. Brownlow adopted Oliver.
