Book report: Artemis Fowl And The Arctic Incident
Artemis Fowl is thirteen years old. He’s a genius. His intellect is greater than that of any human since Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. He has beaten the world chess champion Kashoggi in an on-line tournament, and won the architectural competition to design Dublin’s new opera house. He has also written a computer program, and a psychological book under the pseudonym Doctor F. Roy Dean Schlippe. And, the important thing, he has translated The Fairy Book. And, he knows, there is living another people under the earth’s crust. The fairies. In the first book Artemis has kidnapped Holly Short, a fairy. Artemis has got a bodyguard, Butler. He’s a very strong man, and always has a weapon. Artemis’mother is called Angelina Fowl, his father is called Artemis Fowl Senior. He had ambitions to establish himself as a great businessman.
Artemis Fowl Senior brought a ship, stocked with 250.000 cans of cola and set course to Murmansk, in northern Russia, were he had a business deal. But the Russian Mafia sank the Fowl Star (the boat of Artemis Senior) and kidnapped Artemis Senior. Artemis Junior will save him.
But the fairies also have problems. The goblin clan, B’wa Kell, has assaulted Haven City, the city of the fairies. They have Softnose weapons, weapons they took from humans. Artemis Junior ask the fairies to help save his father. The fairies will help save Artemis Senior, if Artemis Junior helps defeat the B’wa Kell. That’s a deal. But there are great problems in Russia, because the B’wa Kell will conquer the world. They assault Russia. Artemis fights the Mafiya, and the goblins.
As Holly Short, Butler and Artemis Junior are going to Russia, conquer the B’wa Kell Haven City. They lost any connection with Holly. The group (Holly, Butler, Artemis) is coming back to Haven City, and then save Artemis Senior. Succeed that? I didn’t tell you.
The book is written by Eoin Colfer. He’s born and raised in Wexford, on 14 may 1965. Wexford is a seaside town in the south-east of Ireland. Before he was began with writing, he was teacher on a primary school in Wexford. In 2001 the first Artemis Fowl book was publishing.
