Summary
The story is about the Bennet Family who lived in the UK in the late 18th century. Mr and Mrs Bennet have five daughters: Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty and Lydia. Mrs Bennet has a life-time wish, she wants her daughters to find a good and wealthy husband. If Mr Bennet dies the house will be going to a distant niece whom they never have met. Everyone gets excited when they hear that the rich and spontaneous gentleman Mr. Bingley rented a house in the neighbourhood to spend the summer. He brings his two sisters and friend Mr. Darcy with him. Mr. Darcy is a lot richer and much more proud than Mr. Bingley. The community throws a welcome party for Mr Bingley. Jane the eldest Bennet daughter catches Mr. Bingley’s eye. They danced twice on the party. A couple of days later she gets an invitation to dine with his two sisters. It’s raining but she doesn’t want to take the carriage. Later that evening she got the flu so she stays at Bingley’s house. Jane’s younger sister Elizabeth Bennet visits her the day after. First she talks with Bingley’s sisters and when she leaves the room they start talking about her, how dirty and bad mannered she is. When Jane slightly got better Mr. Bingley is planning to have a ball.
My Opinion:
I really enjoyed this book. But it’s quite hard to understand it. The words are sometimes difficult. But the story is great, Jane Austen is an amazing writer.
