Title: Harry Potter and the philosopher's stone
Author: J.K. Rowling

Summary:
It’s a story about a boy, Harry Potter, who finds out that he’s a wizard. It’s a fantasy book, with wizards and witches, so it isn’t really realistic. The story is set in England, mostly at Hogwarts, the school for wizards. It happens around this time, because there are words like television and computer in the book. But the time isn’t important because the story could also have happened in past, because wizards don’t use electricity and that kind of things. But the place is important, because Hogwarts is a magic castle, it couldn’t have happened in an ordinary school. The background is really important because wizards live totally different from normal people.

The most important people in the book are:
Harry Potter
He finds out that he’s a wizard and that he’s famous in the world of the wizards. He is small and skinny, has glasses, black hair and green eyes. He has a scar on his forehead shaped like a bolt of lightning. Lord Voldemort has killed his parents, so he lives with his horrible uncle, aunt and nephew.

Ronald Weasley
He becomes Harry’s best friend at Hogwarts. He has red hair and he is kind of lanky. Ron is rather poor, he always wears second-hand robes. He has five brothers and a little sister.

Hermione Granger
She is also a good friend of Harry. She has a bossy voice, lots of bushy hair and large front teeth. Her parents aren’t wizards, but Hermione is a real good witch. She’s also very smart.

Title explanation:
The title is rather good. But I would have chosen another title, because the Philosopher’s Stone isn’t really important. The story is more about Harry who has got to stop Voldemort again. I would like tot get to know Ron Weasley because I could ask him everything about wizards and magic. I wouldn’t want to meet Voldemort because he’ll probably kill me because he hates Muggles (not-magic people). I would like to be someone in the book because then I could use magic.

Summary:
Harry Potter is an unhappy boy who lives with his uncle and aunt. But then he finds out he’s a wizard, and that he’s famous in wizarding world. That’s because he is the only one who has survived when Lord Voldemort, a dark wizard, tried to kill him when he was a baby. He finds out about all of this when he gets a letter from Hogwarts, school for Witchcraft and Wizardry. When he’s at school there he and his friends, Ron and Hermione, find out that the Philosopher’s Stone is hidden somewhere in the school. And that Voldemort is trying to steal it so he can get back his power. Harry stops him just in time and Voldemort disappears again.

My opinion:
I think it’s a great book, because it’s really thrilling. I would recommend this book to everyone, even if you don’t like fantasy. The way it’s written is also good, because it’s easy to understand everything. But it takes a lot of time before he finds out he’s a wizard so the beginning can be a little dull. It’s comparible to the other parts of the series, but those are even more thrilling.
