Chapter 1 (page 1-21)
Charles is a single man and lives together with Scarlett in London.
The first wedding is from August and Laura. Charles is the Best Man. He is always late and also at the wedding he is late. When he is standing in the church he reminds that he had forgotten the rings. But Scarlett has got 2 rings round her fingers and gives them to Charles.
Carrie is an American girl and Charles likes her very much. They sleep both in “The Lucky Boatman”. And they slept together. But the next morning she have to go back to America.

Chapter 2 (page 22-35)
Carrie is getting married with Hamish. The second wedding is from Bernard and Lydia. Tom is the Best Man. Charles is also this wedding late. At the wedding is Carrie not very happy. He met his old girlfriends, and he also met Carrie again. Hamish is back to America. And Carrie took Charles with her to her hotelroom. Charles feels very uncomfortable with in mind that Carrie and Hamish getting married. But when they’re kissing, it’s back to the old.

Chapter 3 (page 36-44)
Charles is invited to the wedding of Carrie and Hamisch. He isn’t very happy about it, because he loves Carrie. She doesn’t know that yet. On Saturday he met Carrie, she has to buy a weddingdress, and she asks Charles to help her. They bought a lovely dress together. After that he tells her that he loves her. She gives him a kiss and walked away.

Chapter 4 (page 45-51)
The third wedding is of Carrie and Hamisch. Charles is also late this time. He steps into the church, the wedding has started already. When they both said: “I do,” Charles whispers: “Damn, damn, damn it to hell.” Gareth has died at the end of the wedding.

Chapter 5 (page 52-55)
The funeral is of Gareth who has died at the last wedding. Charles has decided to marry.

Chapter 6 (page 56-65)
The fourth wedding is of Charles and Henriëtta. Charles is on time this time.
Before the wedding, Carrie is coming to say to Charles that she had divorced. Charles is happy but confused, he is the who is getting married now. Finally he decides that he would marry Henriëtta. When the priest asks if there is anyone who would object. David puts up his hand. He signs: “I think that the groom is in love with someone ells.” Henriëtta asks Charles if that’s true. Charles said: “I do.”
After the cancelled wedding, Carrie comes to Charles to look if everything goes well. Then he says that he loves her and they decide that they will marry each other.
