Chapter 1 Monday evening

1. Because there where troubles in the hotel
2. Because there was a men making Albert Wells strange noises and he began to worry
3. Well thy (the duke and the duchess of Corydon) order a late dinner and took it to their rooms when he was serving the soup the duchess suddenly got up from the table. When she stepped back, she hit the waiters arm. He thought she did so on purpose
4. Because the last guest who slept in room 1439 complained and demanded a different room. The room was next to the service lift and al the hotel’s pipes seemed to run though the bedroom. It was the worst bedroom in the hotel. Mr. Wells never complains.
5. Because Mr. Wells was in his room he was unconscious. Christine rang Dr. Uxbridge and told him to give Mr. Wells oxygen, because he had breathing problems. So he gave it to him.
6. Marsha Preyscot shouted for help. Men, Aloysius Royce, heard it and knock on the door. A fem minutes later he was in the room. He saw Marsha and said to the youths that they let go Marsha. The youths attacked him and Marsha but a few minutes later they ran away and Marsha was free
7. Because his past. At another hotel, Waldorf hotel, he was seen laying in bed with a woman guest. Her husband saw that and made a claim against the hotel. Peter was immediately dismissed. After long looking for a new job at a hotel he found the Saint Gregory. His boss, Warren Trent, gave him the job but he new about the affair at the Waldorf hotel and gave him a low salary.
8. Because there was a rope round one side of the road ahead. The police tell Christine and Peter that there was been an accident. A mother and her child were walking when suddenly a car knocked them over and killed the child of seven years old. The car never stopped.

Chapter 2 Tuesday

1. Royce told him about Marsha Preyscot and the shameful behaviour of the youths

Later, he will pay a little visit to the hotel concerned. These forgetful guests provided Keycase with good, steady business.
6. Keycase had one day bad luck while he broke in by a lady. She woke up while Keycase was stealing her fur coat. He had no change to escape. He was arrested and taken to a court of law. He was sent to prison for three years
7. He was very tired and he didn’t know the hotel.
8. That the car which was involved in the accident was a jaguar and how many peoples were killed at the accident.
9. They wanted him to drive the car to Chicago.

11. Well’s didn’t trust Mr. O’Keefe. He felt bitter about him.

Chapter 3 Wednesday

1. He asked this key from the man behind the counter.
2. So the guy in the room he was robbing tought that he had drunk.
3. The man wake up and saw Keycase, The smell of wiskey worked.

6. Some fellow had entered the room at night. In the morning the owner of room 614 wondered how the key of room 614 fit the lock of room 641.
7. Yes, Ogilvie was suspicious too. He had already made some arrangements and told the clerks always to ask a guest his name before they give him a key and take a good look at the guest.
8. He said it isn’t necessary and if Ogilvie isn’t in the hotel, his men will know what to do.
9. He said to Christine that she not waste her time and that every minute in life is precious. He said also to Christine that Peter is in love with her.
10. He made them tell their story and pay a bill.
11. First he ask a porter information about the room were the Croydon’s stay. Then he saw behind the desk a young man, who was new in the hotel. He used a trick that he had used before. The trick worked and he got the key of the suite.
12. They asked for his name.
13. He kept two hundred dollars in his pocket and hid the rest of the money in a bag.
14. He repairs a broken front light on his Jaguar.
15. In the note was written that Ogilvie had permission to take the car of the Duke out of the garage.
16. Two man were arrived at the St. Gregory, from which Trent was trying to borrow two million dollars. They had come to examine the hotel’s accounts..

Chaper 4 Thursday

1. He had been to a dinner party and was walking back to the hotel. He past the hotel’s garage and heard a car driving. He stood still and waited. He saw Ogilvie in the Jaguar.
2. The car rushed past the Jaguar. It was an ambulance.
3. it wasn’t safe to drive the car to Chicago by daylight because he could have been seen
4. Keycase didn’t rob the presidential suite because he was to afraid to steel.
5. trend had to refuse a coloured man to the hotel because it was full the man thought that it was discrimination.
6. In the note that Ogilvie had left for Peter stood that he was going on holiday for four days and that Finegan will be in change.
7. Warren Trent would receive also 4000000 dollars but if he sold the hotel to o’keefe he would have no post at all and if he sold the hotel to Dumaire he would have a little post.
8. The duchess was going to Chicago without the Duke because if they were going together the all the newspapers will report the event.
9. The fact that the jaguar was the duke’s car gave peter the idea that the jaguar had killed the child
10. When Ogilvie turned to a much busier road he drove into an police block
11. If the owner of the claim don’t build on the claim for a year wells could heve the claim he already has waited 8 months so he only have to wait 4 more months.

13. He own two newspapers, some ships,an insurance company. a few buildings and one ore two other things. and he bought a chain of food shops and he have just bought the hotel.
14. The note was away. It was important because the police can produce the note and show that it was is the Duchess handwriting.

Chapter 5 Friday

1. Vickery had told that the lift always broke down. The machinery is worn out and the wire ropes are not much thicker than string. That lift is hanging by a few threads. It's not safe. One day the topes will break and there will be a serious accident.
2. Mr Wells is a simple man and very rich. He is a good businessman and also a good judge of character.
3. His conditions are that he must have complete freedom to run this hotel in his own way and he made this a condition of his employment as manager.
4. Peter compared the handwriting in the letters with the handwriting in the note.
5. The Duke went to the police and give himself up.
6. Ogilvie was Trent wife's nephew. She ask Trent to give Ogilvie a job as the hotel. He did so and he had promised to keep him in employment.
7. He directly started to give orders.
8. The policeman stopped him, because everybody must go to the doctor.
9. The Duke was dead. Chandler broke his back. Dodo cracks her head and Keycase was lucky, he wasn't even hurt.
10. She didn't care about the death from her husband.
11. Because Peter won't drink alone.
12. Duke is death, so he wasn't to send to prison. Dodo goes to merrie with O'Keefe.
