Danny The champion of the world

What do you think the book is about?
A Boy, Danny, who is going to be The champion of the world.

Explain the title:
The book describes Danny’s life. And when Danny and his dad stole the 120 pheasants , his father was really proud of him. He said: “Danny, you’re The champion of the world!”

Author:
The author of Danny The champion of the world is Roald Dhal. He was born in Wales 1916. Danny The champion of the world is one of Roald Dahl’s only books that is based on first-hand experience.

Number of pages:
214.

Date of publication:
First published by Jonathan Cape 1975.

Genre:
Noval.

Setting:
It’s not important for the book, but I think somwhere in England.

Plot:
Danny is a 9 years old Boy, and his mother died when Danny was only 4 months old.
He has no brothers or sisters. He lives with his father near a petrolstation, in a caravan, miles away from the villages. He has no friends because he lives very isolated, but he always plays with his dad, with his self-made soapbox and his kite. Danny's father works at the petrolstation, but he has always time to play with Danny. He always tells Danny bedtime stories before Danny goes to bed. What Danny doesn't know is that his father is poaching in the forest near the petrolstation.

Make a list of the main characters:
- Danny
- Danny’s father
- Mr Victor Hazell
- Doc Spencer
- Mr Rabbetts
- Mrs Clipstone

Describe one of the main characters:
Danny,
Danny is a 9 years old Boy, and his mother died when Danny was only 4 months old.
He has no brothers or sisters.
He lives with his father near a petrolstation, in a caravan, miles away from the villages. He always plays with his dad, with his self-made soapbox and his kite.

Say what you think about this person and why:
I think he’s a sweet Boy, because he’s happy with everything and cares about his father.

Theme:
Poaching, Pheasents.

What did you like about this book?
I liked that Danny and his father put the sleeping pills in the raisins, and the pheasents ate them.

What didn’t you like about this book?
I didn’t like Mr Victor Hazell

What did you find difficult?
The Danny’s father had no name, sometimes I red just Danny and the sentence is strance then.

Give your own opinion:
It is not the best book that Roald Dahl ever wrote, but it was really nice. Sometimes it was a little boring, because some chapters could also have told in one sentence. But most chapters were really exciting.
