12 What experiences have had a large effect on the relationship between the main characters and what have the consequences been?

After her father told Mia she was a princess there changed a lot between Mia and her father. In the beginning she was very angry at her father. There changed a lot between them. Before Mia knew she was a princess she saw her father only in holidays and after her father told her she was a princess she saw her father almost every day. The relationship between Mia and her grandmother also changed a lot. In the beginning of the book she saw her grandmother only in the summer but after she heard she was a princess she saw her grandmother almost every day because her grandmother gives her princess lessons. In the princess lessons Mia learns how to act like a princess.

25 What do I find realistic described and what do I not find realistic described? Explain.

I don’t think it’s realistic Mia didn’t know she was a princess and it’s also not realistic she didn’t know her father is a prince. I think it’s not realistic because if Mia is a princess she would have known. There would always be press around her when she was with her father. I don’t think it’s realistic her bodyguard follows her everywhere.

I think her life at school is very realistic. The beginning of the book is very realistic. Mia is in the beginning a very normal girl and she went to a very normal school. The most things in the book are not very realistic.

36 What problems are dealt with? How are they dealt with? What can people learn and what have I learned from the book?

The biggest problem in the book is that Mia is a princess. Mia didn’t want to be a princess. She has to learn how to act like a princess and the press follows her everywhere. Her grandmother told the press she is a princess and there was a story about Mia and a picture of her in a newspaper. Mia had to go to Genovia but she wanted to finish her school in New York. You can learn from the book that it isn’t easy to live like princess and that you have to know a lot before you can really act like a princess. Lots of girls want to be a princess but they can learn it isn’t always fun to be a princess and that you have to work very hard for your country.

42 You are going to be the director of a film based on the book.
A Which two scenes would you definitely include?
B Which two scenes would you leave out?
C Account for your choices as well as you can.

A Which two scenes would you definitely include?

I would definitely include the scene when her father tells Mia she is a princess. That scene is the most important scene in the book. If that scene wasn’t in the movie the movie would be very different and if that scene wasn’t in the movie you couldn’t understand the story.

I would also include the scene when her grandmother told the press Mia is a princess. I would include that scene because her life as a princess started in that scene. Before that scene almost nobody knew Mia was a princess and after that scene does everybody know she is a princess.

B Which two scenes would you leave out?

I would leave a scene out when she’s going to school because there isn’t happening anything. There are too many scenes where she’s going to school. The scenes when she is at school are very boring and they are not really necessary.

I would also make the beginning, before she knows she’s a princess, shorter. The beginning is too long and it’s boring to read because there isn’t happening a lot. The beginning is very important but it’s too long.

C Account for your choices as well as you can.

The Scene when her father tells Mia she is a princess is the most important scene of the book. Without that scene the story wouldn’t be the same. If that scene wasn’t in the book the story would be very different.
The scene when her grandmother told the press Mia was a princess is also very important because her life as a princess started in that scene. Before the press knew Mia was a princess her life was not very different from other people but after that scene there changed a lot.
The scene when she’s going to school isn’t very important and it is a very boring scene. I don’t think the scenes when she is going to school are necessary and I don’t think they are very important.
The beginning of the book is very important but the beginning is too long and also very boring. I think I would make the beginning shorter. She is in the beginning a normal girl with a very boring life. So it would be more fun with a shorter beginning.
