Gist of the story: After returning from a faculty orgy hosted by Martha’s father, the president of New England College, George finds out Martha invited people over at that hour of the day. She tells him he’s a failure because he doesn’t resemble her dad. Before Nick and Honey enter, George tells Martha not to talk about their son. Nick and Honey are somewhat annoyed by the game their hosts are playing. But under the influence of lot of alcohol they will participate. Nick tells George the real reasons why he married Honey. She had had a hysterical pregnancy because she was very focussed to have a baby and she has a lot of money in the family. While Martha and Honey are in another room, Martha tells her about their beautiful son. Their son is the illusion that shields George and Martha from reality. In the exorcism George chants his sons burial service in latin. In the end George sings the title of the book for Martha.

Explanation of the title
It’s a mix of two elements: normally it’s: ’Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf?’ in which big bad wolf has been replaced by Virginia Woolf, a famous novelist. With this song Martha laughs with George because of his lack of being able to lay social contacts. In the end the song has the purpose of asking Martha if she’s afraid of reality. Her answer’s yes.

Give marks on ten and comment them:
A six and a half. The book read quiet easily because of the dialogs. There’s always something happening. I think these people are mentally ill and need to see a psychologist. Or maybe they’re just being crazy because of the bourbon that’s being poured out frequently.
