Title: the BFG (big friendly giant)
Author: Roald Dahl
Publisher: Jonathan Cape
When did the book first published:1982
Pages:224
Explain title: The title BFG that stands for big friendly giant he is a very important person in the book he is a giant but he friendly so the big friendly giant.
Fiction or non fiction: It is a fiction story because there are giants and they don’t exist in the real world!
Point of view: It’s a tellers perspective because you can’t read the notion.
Description of the main characters? Characters development.
Humans:
Sofie: is a little girl who lives in a orphanage and she doesn’t like it there.
Giants: There are nine children eating giants; the fleshlumpeater, the bonecruncher, the Manhugger. The Childchewer, the Meatdripper, the gizzard gulper, the Maidmasher, the Bloodbottler and the Butcher Boy.
Then you have one more giant left and that’s the Big Friendly Giant he is a vegetarian and a dreamcather ( he catch dream for children).
My opinion + arguments: I find it a nice book for young children. For children of my age (14, 15) is it not so nice to read because there is to much fantasy.
How start the book: With Sophie, she lies in her bed and then she looks out of her window and than she saw a big person, that is the BFG and he takes Sophie with him.
How ends the book: The queen, sofie, BFG and many humans, went to Giant country when all the Giants slept and then they put a rope on the hands and feet of the giants. And bound the Giants under a Helicopter and put them in a large pit with snozzcumber.
Setting: There are many places in the book.
London in the orphanage where Sofie lives. Giant country where all the giants lives and for a while Sofie too.
And later in the book by the queen of England.
Climax or anti climax: The climax of the story is that the evil giants are locked up and can’t eat children anymore and that Sofie not longer a orphan-girl is.
Summary of the story: Sofie was lying in her bed and she couldn’t sleep.
She walked to the window to close the gap in the curtains. Then she saw an enormous giant with a very long tin trumpet and he blew that into the room of some children. The giant saw her and took her from the window and put her in his bag and took her to his cave. Sofie was very scared because she thought that the giant would eat her. But the giant told her that he was a vegetarian and that he ate snozzcumbers (that is nasty foos, it looks like a cucumber). Because the BFG had told her that she wasn’t not scared anymore.
The giant also told her that the other nine giants ate people, those giants went to some country every night to eat people. While he was talking with her., the blood bottler (that is a other giant) came in and he asked the BFG to whom he was talking (Sofie was hiding). The BFG said that he was talking to nobody, bud the Bloodbottler didn’t belive him. The BFG was scared and he switched to another subject. He asked the Bloodbottler if he wanted some snozzcumber. The Bloodbuttler (who wasn’t a vegetarian) ate the snozzcumber and he didn’t like it and he went away. The BFG had many years on the shelves and Sofie wanted to know what there was inside. The BFG told her that there were dreams inside. He told her too that he was a dream catcher. And that he went to dreamland to catch dreams and put them in glass jars and on the jars he put a label. And the label said what dream there was inside the jar. Every evening he went to children to blow a dream into their ears with his trumpet.
He was also doing that when Sofie saw him. Sofie found it a terrible that the other Giants went every evening to some country to go to eat. That hundreds of children were eaten by Giants every evening. So she had a plan to stop them. This was her plan: The BFG (who could mix dreams) had to make a dream for the queen ( because she had power). The dream had to be about nine disgusting giants, each one about fifty feet tall, were galloping to England in the night. And they snatched children, took them out of their beds and ate them. Then they went to Gaints Country where nobody can’t find them. And in the end the queen saw a little girl called Sofie sitting at here window.
That dream the giant blew into the queens ear and then the queen woke up she was surprised to see Sofie at the window.
Sofie and the BFG explained everything to the queen and the queen made a plan.
They went to Giant country when all the Giants slept and then they put a rope on the hands and feet of the giants. And bound the Giants under a Helicopter and put them in a large pit with snozzcumber.
All the people of the world were happy and they gave the BFG and sofie many presents. They lived in Giant country not any more but in a large house near the queens castle.
The BFG (a writer) wrote this book that I’ve just read
