II. Hero is twelve years old. She has two lives. Her real life is her life with her family. Her true life is her life early in the morning. In the morning when her family is a sleep she always goes to Credence. Credence is a wood; in the wood is the house of Miss Credence situated. Hero climbs always from tree to tree. She looks at Miss Credence. Miss Credence gives bread to the birds. After an hour she always goes home, her real life begins. Hero never has talked, she only shook her head. She hasn’t talked for three years; she only talks to her brother Athol. She has an older brother, Athol, an older sister, Ginervra and a younger sister, Sapphira. One morning she was climbing in the trees, Miss Credence was working in her garden when Hero slipped out. When she opens her eyes she saw Miss Credence. Her whole body hurts. When she went inside, Miss Credence asked her if she wanted to work in her garden. Hero agrees. Hero’s sister walked away from home, two years ago. At a Saturday morning she suddenly came back home. She was in company with a boy, called Sammy. She everywhere had bruises and her arm was broken. She said -the reason she came back home was- that she needed a break. Hero went to Miss Credence. Miss Credence killed a cat. She asked Hero to take a picture from her and the dead cat. Hero was shocked. When she came back home, she went to her brother’s room. They talked about Ginerva. Athol said he didn’t believe Ginerva came back for a break. Evenings she went for the first time for two times to Credence. The door from Miss Credence’s house was open. Hero found that weird, mysterious. When she came inside she saw Miss Credence hanging in her room. When Miss Credence saw her, Hero quickly said she came giving back the money what Miss Credence gave her too much. Miss Credence asked her if she also wanted to do a bit of housekeeping for her. Hero had the feeling she can’t refuse. If she looked at the room she saw a painting from a little child. Miss Credence said it was a painting of her daughter, Rinda. When Hero came back home she realised the painting was a painting from her sister. The next morning Ginerva told everyone that she was pregnant and that this is the reason she came back. That afternoon she went to Credence. When she’s inside and Miss Credence is not there she goes through the secret door (Miss Credence forbade her to go too the room behind that door). Behind the door is a stair, the stair was long. When she went upstairs she saw another door, when she opened the door she saw a girl and she knew who that girl is, Rinda. When Miss Credence came upstairs and saw Hero she became mad, she locked her up. Hero looked at Rinda and saw she was chained to her bed. Hero heard the intercom, it was Miss Credence. She told Hero trough the intercom that the girl was her child and the child from her father’s best friend. When Rinda was born she saw that it wasn’t a normal child, she wanted too protect her. The next morning (Miss Credence wouldn’t let her go) she waked up and saw Sammy when she looked at the window. Sammy followed her. He went home to get help. Hero heard Miss Credence on the intercom, again. She asked why Miss Credence had a painting of Ginerva. Miss Credence said she saw a picture of Ginerva in the newspaper. She painted the picture of Ginerva like she saw at the picture in the newspaper. Then Miss Credence asked why Hero didn’t talk. Hero said she wanted to be special just like her sister. She wanted to be special on her own way. Then they heard a car Hero saw it was her family, Hero was rescued. Miss Credence went downstairs. When she came also downstairs back by her family she heard that Miss Credence had shot herself trough the head. After that day Hero started talking, too everyone.
