Meer informatie

Main Characters.

Holly Golightly is the main character.

Joe Bell is also an important character.

Where does the story take place? 7. When?

The story takes place in New York from 1940 to 1945.

What kind of story?

This book is a love story, because it is all about Holly who wants to fall in love with someone, so she can marry that person. She had also many boyfriends.

Could the story really have happened? Why? Why not?

The story could really have happened, because I can imagine this happens in real life and it’s realistic.

Give a description of one of the main characters.

Holly Golightly is a nineteen year old girl who lives on her own since she was fourteen years old, because she ran away from her husband who she married at that age. She is a beautiful girl. Her childhood was very difficult. She is strange but very nice.

What is the perspective in which the story is told?

The story is told in I perspective. It is told by Fred, not her brother Fred, but the I figure reminds her of her brother, so she calls him Fred. He lives in the same building as Holly. He is also secretly in love with Holly.

Describe one important event.

An important event is when the I figure meets Holly’s husband. He told an impressive story about Holly: Holly married her husband when she was fourteen years old. He met her when she was stealing eggs and milk with her brother. Holly’s mother and father died so he offered her a place in his house.

Explain the title.

The title is Breakfast at Tiffany’s because Holly goes, when she doesn’t feel good, to a club called Tiffany’s. When she is there she thinks that nothing can happen to here.

What is your opinion of the book and why? What is the nicest part and why? What didn’t you like and why?

I don’t really like the book. It’s a bit boring and there are difficult parts, then I don’t understand what’s really happening.

I like the part where Holly sees her husband again. Because she remembers then what real love is. I can’t remember the page.

I didn’t like the parts with the conversations, because the most of the conversations are very long. I think they are also a bit boring. There are more pages.

And I don’t like the beginning because I really didn’t understand what was happening. (blz. 5-20)

It is also very annoying that there are no chapters.

What was the author’s purpose?

I think the author’s purpose is to amuse the readers but also to learn the reader something. You shouldn’t marry someone so young, because Holly is in trouble now and she has psychological problems.
